😄 amerakin overdose / disconnect review

ready to pull the plug?

Explore the captivating world of campy metal with Amerakin Overdose's "Overdose." This metal track is a perfect blend of catchy melodies and heavy rhythms.

genre: metal
release date: 03/08/23
runtime: 4:22
video: yes :)

i’ve had a bit of a pet theory for a while that metal is the campest genre, and the more of it i find myself listening to the more convinced i am that i’m right. i am right btw metal is camp as fuck and i think that rules. metal heads and metal bands are consistently some of the wildest and coolest acts you will find around. this week therefore, i’m quite gassed to give you all a lil metal morsel from amerakin overdose, with their song overdose. it’s very camp, and fun.

what i liked! :)

there’s a catchy wee tune on the go here. when it gets going, the chorus really lands i found myself whistling the melody quite a bit afterwards. plus the production here is right on the money of what this is trying to do. there’s nothing particularly contemporary going on but everything is delivered competently and with a fair bit of style. on top of all that, this is a pretty heavy song that brings it’s guns to bear is it were particularly in the outro which is always good to see.

what i didn’t like :(

while i enjoyed listening to this song a lot, i did find that it dragged on quite a bit. it very much came in, did what it wanted to do and then just kinda hung around before landing a breakdown and going oh alright we’ll call it. i think this would’ve been a great candidate for some more choice editing and leaving some bits on the cutting room floor.

my drunk opinion :S

my hair is so long these days i can barely headbang properly which kinda means i’m like getting into the real headbanging territory.

for fans of

this track is reminding me so much of hollywood undead who i am reliably informed are still going?? more on this as we get it. anywho when i was like 11 their song young made me cry and looking back idk why lmao

should you listen to more?

uhm, i think so? i think this is very within a scene kind of music, for which there is 100% a huge audience for, but i don’t know how much bleed out of that scene there is. i like it because it’s camp as hell.
