😀 a&r dept - takes time review
really cool electronic duet with lots of interesting ideas but does it all come together?
bad news everyone, facebook survived :( but good news, so did we! and even more good news there's a lot of new people joining us! which is very exciting. welcome to a single song review, the only song review newsletter that makes you taller as you read it. you can't prove it doesn't. this week, we're checking out takes time by a&r department, who may or may not be a real a&r department! what they definitely are is very talented, and have released a really cool lil track. click the play button up above to give it a spin!

what i liked! :)
there's so much to like about this song honestly. first up, broken sampled vocals? oh im in love, i loveeeee that even though maybe it's a little tacky at this point every time i hear it my brain goes yes please. and the vocals that are being broken? when they're not broken they're incredible. these are two very talented vocalists that together have so much chemistry that's really nice to hear. what they're singing over isn't half bad either, with great production values and a plethora of great instruments including some tasty tasty brass.
what i didn’t like :(
so usually when we encounter a song that goes against the grain on song structure we sing it's praises because that's not easy to do. this song however, i very much feel it's to it's detriment. there are a few sections where the lack of a rigid structure let it down. for example this song feels like it has two bridge sections, moments where there's a build expecting a payoff but no payoff to be found.
my drunk opinion :S
honestly i've not been drinking this month, but if i had been this would be a good song to drink to
for fans of
just, the entire euphoria soundtrack
should you listen to more?
ain't got nothing to send you to i'm afraid, this is the first song from these guys! and it's a really good one too, we certainly enjoyed it. so do what we did and hit follow on their spotify because when these guys drop more tracks, they're probably gonna be good. only one way to find out!
more we’ve been listening to
sungazer, hannah summer - the dark (*plays the lick*)
bonobo - rosewood (this song treats a sample the way i want to be treated, with care and attention and clapping)
wet leg - wet dream (this song sounds as cool as i would feel on a motorbike broom broom)
