special edition time! we've got an a single song review alumni to review, and this is an artist we haven't touched for years! these rae the good lads in arco arena, and their new song young! (an: lads if ur reading this i couldn't get you all fully in the head im sorryyyyy) but this new track, it's banging. see a thing we always go on about is trajectory, cus like, writing music, making art it's a discipline right? it's the kind of thing you need to keep working on. if you don't, you lose it. but if you keep working, and you plot out the quality of what you make now, what you made a while ago, and add time then boom. banging music, artwork, whatever, on the way! well, here is an example, young by arco arena.

what i liked! :)
this song has a moment right at the start of the chorus, where it just absolutely takes off. the mammoth guitar and backing vocals step into the sparse space maintained in the verse. it's just a great moment, really makes the track just absolutely soar. it's some genuinely great songwriting, and it's not lost in the rest of the track. the sense of drama present in the vocal is so good. that's the kind of thing that it's so easy to come across, for lack of a better word, cringe, but in this? nails it, brilliant combo of vocal fry, volume and just drama.
what i didn’t like :(
i thought the breakdown in this song was a little lack-luster, there's a lot of tonal shape and size int he buildup done by the guitars and snare, and the payoff doesn't quite land for me, especially after the really dope guitar solo. something about the tone of the rest of the band just lacks the bite and strength.

for fans of
these guys remind me of real friends, who i just kinda rediscovered a bit and im real glad i did, you should too.
should you listen to more?
right, what we said about trajectory earlier? well, guess what, these guys have been at this for a while, and there are some really good tracks on offer! check out the song docker martins it got featured in this cool music newsletter that you might have heard of
