😀 aviv - you feel like depression review

what do you get when you cross a waltz with pop punk?

apologies everyone, we didn't run a bandcamp friday last week. we've been incredibly busy working on some exciting things for you all, which we're hoping hoping hoping to announce next week, including our next vinyl prize draw! keep your eyes peeled ;)

anywho, this weeks review; we've got a fab tune for you all. a melancholic waltz wearing an indie pop songs on it's sleeves right beside the incredible and vulnerable lyrics.

click the picture up above to give it a listen!

what i liked! :)

the level of detail in this song is something else. the way it transforms mode and timbre at a whim while retaining a distinct character is only possible with that. going from a slightly wacky and whimsical verse into a bedroom rock moment on a whim. the joining piece of this is of course the fantastic vocal work, bringing together some banging singing and tasteful effects. all in, this comes together with a sense of humour and creativity that you don't find often in tracks like this.

what i didn’t like :(

the heavy sections of this song are handled with such a deft touch and attention to tone it almost bums me out there's not more of them in this.

my drunk opinion :S

chorus in this has very i have a megaphone and im mad at u energy to it

for fans of

okay so, the obvious answer here is olivia rodrigo, or beabadoobee. but honestly? there's a real sense of funny drama on the go here which reminds me of the likes of someone like muse remember them? i haven't thought of them in a long long long time.

should you listen to more?

again, another great artist for the ol' repertoire here. lots of great tunes on the go and they're v much gathering some traction! don't worry tho, if you click that button below and give them a listen you can still say you knew them before they were cool. give the song black coffee a listen in particular, it's a great tune.

more we’ve been listening to

atmospheric saxophone seems like a contradiction in terms

like early 00's aesthetics

sounds like it should be on the jackass soundtrack

that’s all from us this week! catch you in the next one xo
