this song is absolutely banging and this week we are boppin. tha’ts it, that’s the intro, we’ve got another banger for you and that’s what’s most important in the next 5 - 7 minutes of your life, 2 minutes and 26 seconds of which should, ideally, be spent vibing vicously with the incredible track that is guilt2001 by bricknasty, tomike and chi-chi. you’re welcome, let’s get into it!

from the very beginning beat on that gentle kick drum, we are in baby. this is a song that sits you down, looks you in the eyes and tells you it loves you. from the astonishingly groovy bass lines to the bopping and weaving piano work that makes sure to lay out a beat so gentle and lovely it leaves you wanting more. that all, of cours,e is but the silver tray on which the vocals are laid up, and what vocals. oh my goodness gracious this singer is stunning, the personality, the tone, the control over each and every melodic expression is gorgeous, all reinforced by the fantastic backing vocals. all of that set dressing steps aside a few times to give you a bit more of what bricknasty is cooking, in the form of interviews and world noise. this gives just a mad and extremely interesting extra dimension to the song.

i have one complaint about this song, and that is that it is actually broken into two. it is a counterpart to the intro track for the album, which leans in much more massively to the interview and world noise elements, as well as leading you by the hand to the track. i wish that that had’ve been incorporated more directly into the song because it does such a great job of piecing together what this song is trying to say.

how do you deal with the guilt? idk man, ask your therapist

this artist really reminds me of anthony szmierick who is an artist who i think is just going to absolutely blow up soon. between the jazzy and electronic influences and the hard hitting lyrics it’s all there and both of these artists are so good.

yes omg bricknasty ruleeeeeeeee. they’re delightful and weird and heartfelt and irish and beautiful and i love them. you should too is what i would say if i wasn’t already confident you really will love them.
