😄 clark / dismissive review

what's missing?

genre: pop / electronic / experimental
release date: 05/26/23
runtime: 4:17
video: no :(

okay everyone, i have to confess to a lil boo boo here. thought i’d found this sick artist who hadn’t done a huge amount of stuff but was like blowing up a bit and really going soemwhere. great music, really cool aesthetic, real sweet spot you know? and in my defence, i have, they absolutely are right there. one problem? they’ve done a song with thom yorke of all people, so hardly the most underground innit. anyway, the songs banging and i’ve been vibing to it so mayb that’s good enough? anywho, it’s called dismissive by clark and you should go give it a ring a ling a ding.

what i liked! :)

this track is doing a whole ton with negative space that is so much find once you get into it. at no point will it drop a heavy beat, but it doesn’t need to. instead, the percussion adn rhythmic elements are leaving out just where the space for such a beat would be, creating a sort of effect where you feel underlying elements that simply aren’t present in the song. it’s super cool and really got my ear when i first listened to it. but enough of what’s not there, the textural elements present in the song are so rich and detailed it really gives a lot. from the occaisonal peaks from the synths to the fuzzy interference in the bassy elements, it all speaks in tones of massive detail and texture. i can tell you now if you got to hear this song in a big festival your ears would come aaway all fuzzy and warm inside.

what i didn’t like :(

hoenstly i wasn’t a fan of the fakeout ending on this. it’s cool don’t get me wrong, a bit of subverting expectations going on which is always good. i just didn’t really get it? like there’s a lot of pent up energy in this that’s not

my drunk opinion :S

yeah man it sonuds just like daft punk ya know

for fans of

it’s giving sohn which is excellent because i haven’t checed out sohn in sooooooo long and they’re absolutely great. now you get to too, lucky.

should you listen to more?

that thom yorke song is good! as is the rest of the album this song is from, none of it particularly grabbed me like this did, but that doesn’t mean that it won’t grab you if you dug this. there is a lot of really cool stuff going on so you know, chances are good.
