hello everyone, this weeks review comes to you from the bottom of a im-sick-and-feeling-sorry-for-myself hole that i'm dragging out until a day or two beyond when i can really get away with it. so everyone be nice 2 me and enjoy this review! we've got an interesting one for you, courtesy of the submit a song button up above! don't click it right now, we're having more website issues aha. this is bulletproof umbrella by a daniel sherman, with all sorts of influences going on. everything from dancey electronica to hip hop to some pretty heavy stuff.

what i liked! :)

there's so much character in this song but none of it strays into cringe territory. it all feels pretty legit, especially where the vocals are concerned. the spoken word segments are delivered with just enough passion and grit that they sound legit, and the sung vocals are really great. especially the high treated vocal sections in the middle 8. i also really love the amount of storytelling happening here in terms of song structure. the fake out intro to the quasi orchestral build up and minimalist elements that tie it all together are really great.

what i didn’t like :(

this really reminds me of hollywood undead. remember them? apparently they're still going but why who can say. they did have that one song that was pretty good. this track is better than that imo but back in the day 13 year old me was all over that shit.

should you listen to more?

so, there is a lot of good music on this artists latest release. the ever changing dynamic where the genre is swapped out on the fly is actually really well handled from song to song. definitely worth checking out!
