underground pop music???
review 152? have we really written this many? and there's still good songs? these are quesitons i'm musing to myself, and you know what? so long as there are banger tracks, there are gonna be sort of mid reviews for you. mostly as vessels to get you to listen to the tracks, that's kinda our thing right? come for the writing, stay for the tunes. well here's a tune for you to stay for. sweet connections by elizabeth, is a real lil bop and this weeks song!

what i liked! :)
sorry about that. very embarressing. like my ability to spell embaressing. dammit. anyway. lorde once said writing pop is the hardest type of music writing, and she was right cus this artist grapples with that problem and absolutely smashes it. between the gentle fuzz applied on the high notes of the vocal or the gentle suggestions of other musical ideas hovering around the solid beat or ultimately speaking, the fantastic chorus. there's so much happening here but none of it is particularly attention grabbing, because none of it needs to be. it all plays second fiddle to what the song needs, and that ability to discern is exactly what makes great pop music.
what i didn’t like :(
i just wish the kick in this had a hard punch to it cus then i could cry to it in the club but this doesn't have the oomph to bring up my daddy issues.
my drunk opinion :S
i've mentioned lorde already and you know what? i'll do it again. i've often described this newsletter as the best music newsletter on the internet but that's blatantly not true. lordes is, and so is her music. all hail.
for fans of
oh wait, accidentally wrote the for fans of section in the my drunk opinion, which if you don't know me sounds out of character (i do love a good categorisation) but the opportunity to gush about lorde came up and here i am. anyway. this song reminds me of lorde and i do not make that comparison lightly.
should you listen to more?
this is a good artist, but this is their best song. im sorry, it's true, the rest of their stuff lacks the detial and ernestness in this song, and that's okay! because this is their latest track which meanssssssss what do we always talk about? trajectory. if this is where they're at, and that is where they were, then where are they going? they're going to somewhere special.
more we’ve been listening to

lo fi and delicately funky, with the kind of detached lyrics that make me feel like im lucid dreaming
a kind of through-line between the serious and weird of bands like black country, new road and wet leg
what's with electronic musicians basing their music on birds? i love it and pls continue
