😀 elyse jewel - fine by me review
a finely detailed and heartfelt pop tune, but does it have what it takes?
this review is brought to you courtesy of my spam folder! because this weeks song was stuck in limbo there for a very long time, i think. i actually don't know, i just like to imagine it did like my linkedin inbox where i mute the salespeople trying to sell apps to me. sometimes i like to take a look in see how they're doing. like the one guy who messages every now and again going 'i think there's a problem with linkedin messenger' no there isn't buddy, im just not paying attention to you that's all. anywho. new song time! go check out this weeks song, fine by me by elyse jewel! it's a laid back and catchy pop tune that's very worth your time. click the paly button up above to listen!

what i liked! :)
the attention to detail in this song is really something. take the beat for example, this has all the trappings of so many boring pop songs, and it falls into none of them. rather than just relying on a nice sounding sample and bending it to what they want, the drums here are built from the ground up. varying tones and sounds on the percussion mean a rather standard beat has a new lease of life compared to what it's up against. this lends a really unique character to the track that's a lot of fun to listen to.
what i didn’t like :(
i feel like this song shy's away from the hook somewhat, which is a shame as the hook is what makes a song like this land. the rhythmic element on the intro, or the vocal fry on the chorus has the makings of a killer hook, but it doesn't quite come together. there are catchy bits of this song for sure but this song is probably not gonna land forever in your head like it maybe should.
my drunk opinion :S
i can already see myself drunk dancing to this very embarrassingly
for fans of
this artist reallyyyyyy reminds me of griff, which is good! griff is excellent and we need more griffs in the world, as far as im concerned.
should you listen to more?
so, gonna let you in on the process here a little bit. i started listening to this song, and spotify auto-played another song after, funny how it does that. well, see, i wasn't really paying attention but i was writing down my notes on my first pass of listening, not realising i was listening to a different song! now please forgive me that was after my first listen, but, what i wrote down in terms for what i like was exactly the same! the attention to detail, the brilliantly constructed song arrangement etc etc. it's all there, and on many other songs besides so check them out!
more we’ve been listening to
