got such a bop for you this week. itβs balls to the wall nuts, and iβve been looking forward to sharing it with you all for ages actually, partly because i really like the name, who doesnβt want to be king of the slugs? but also because itβs 7 minutes of pure madness and every second of it is dripping with energy and wild wild tone that makes it cut itβs way through the noise, before going on to make itβs own noise for shits and giggles. this weeks track is king of the slugs by bad dog and it rules.
the opening riff in this is a masterclass for how to set a song off right. the massive sounding synth, the groovy deep bass, the dancy drum beat, each piece of this is bringing something unique and madly intense to this song that frankly could each stand on itβs own, but doesnβt feel the need to. instead, fuck it we ball letβs go big. and this song does not at any point chill out from that initial big moment, even towards the end where the bridge around the 4 minute mark is just a fake out, layering in one of the most knarly polka esque almost basque sounding tunes iβve heard in a song and not being afraid to jsut go for it. i can tell you right now that if i heard this song live it would be an absolute ruckus, and itβd rule.
honestly, i really canβt find anything i didnβt like about this. sorry, i guess thatβs a bit cheap, but this song bangs and if you want to get heated with it then youβll be real happy about it.
i canβt explain it but this song is crystal meth version of
okay, so, i had a whole bit here planned out that was this song is the crystal meth version of this one song that iβve spent 45 minutes trying to find, and i canβt find anywhere. itβs an english like, pub song from the. 90s? 80s? and itβs bit is it does what this song does where it gets faster and faster, well basically i canβt find that song at all, so imagine this joke was really funny and please be on with your day thank you.
this band is reminding me heavily of the band yonaka, who are also super cool and do a lot of the cool crusty fuzzy dramatic indie rock this band does. theyβre maybe a bit more poppy, but still really good.
this is a debut song what the hell. well, when that upload button is finally fired and another track makes itβs way up i will be seated, eager and ready.
more weβve been listening to
donβt remember exactly why i put this down as a must listen, but iβm listening, and you know what? whatever it was about, iβm right!
fazerdaze rule
just gorgeous piano and sometimes thatβs all you need
