hello hello welcome to review 139! i'm feeling a lot better thanks for asking. the suns out, the guns r out, the taps are aff etc etc. you get the picture. the one thing that's missing? a good groovy summery rocky tune! oh wait, no it's not because we've got one right here! on this review thing that we do. aren't we cool. that's why we've brought dave (the song) by jim mchugh (the artist) along for you!

what i liked! :)

the groove in this song had me from the first bar, and that's very important. if you can land a solid head bob then attentive ears are following. the vocal hooks are a lot of fun too, bouncing off that rhythm and making for a few fun motifs. plus i really like the little detail bits in the percussion, particularly in the verses and hook where they've augmented the drums with all kinds of weird sounds.

what i didn’t like :(

this song is going for something and it's missing it just a bit, and i think the problem is grit. like there are grungy guitars and riffingg and etc but this song doesn't have that feel of like, the kind of thing you'd hear in a saloon, right? where it's kinda gritty, kinda dirty. a bit of fuzz here, some vinyl distortion there and the song would sound a lot better.
