😀 the preacher's club - night vision review

wanna hear something smooth?

we're still going strong over here! nearly at review 150, that's pretty crazy huh considering we've ben doing these weekly. well, maybe we'll do something special for that. or maybe every week is special because every week we get to share cool songs with you idk! but regardless, here's a cool song. introducing night vision by the preacher's club. an indie / post-punk track w some jangly guitars and really interesting vocals, check it out!

click the picture up above to give it a listen!

what i liked! :)

there's a lot of creativity going on in this song when it comes to arrangement and tone. neat things like complementary guitar tones to changing up the effects on the vocals. also everything here sounds really good together? like the tonal and timbre decisions are just on point. the shape and aggressiveness of everything blends super well to make a song that just glides effortlessly along.

what i didn’t like :(

i wanted one of those real tight snare rolls in the move out of the bridge and i didn't get it. made me sad is all :(

my drunk opinion :S

this is a good driving at night song

for fans of

this reminds me of kenny hoopla quite a bit, altho without the abrasive vocal style. if they were to throw some of that in? maybe it'd fly? idk

should you listen to more?

damn dude this band is awesome. this ep that this track is from is one of the best crafted ep's i've heard in a while. all the good stuff from this song is their quintessential style. it's smooth, it's well crafted, there's lots of little moments in the songs where they do some neat little tricks that imply the songwriters have been at this or a while. it's great!

more we’ve been listening to

you know when a song just makes you really happy? this song does that

super glitchy and artsy and really cool

taking all those beautiful rhythmic ideas you find in lots of jazz, a string quartet, some great poetry and just making it all jam

that’s all from us this week! catch you in the next one xo
