another week, another great song from an irish artist! coming in hot with a wacky post-punk good time with lots of attitude. it is; the slump by skinner.

what i liked! :)
the level of almost sarcastic attitude on display in this song is so good. from the vocals to the manic guitar riffs, the groovy but powerful drums and bass line full of character. it's all happening, but with a great big tongue in cheek. that can be hard to land but this does it with both feet. nothing feels exorbitant and annoying, it's all just spot on. all of that plays about toward the start of the song, but in the bridge? oh boy does it all come together. and what does it come together to do? support a banging sax solo that's what! 10/10 no notes!
what i didn’t like :(
okay one note actually, as much as i enjoyed the sax solo, and i did, it needed a moment where the sax plays out like a long note with nothing else playing, so the sax player can do that and be really cool, and then like, wink to the audience and it all comes back in.
my drunk opinion :S
you gotta give the sax player that moment y'know? gotta do it otherwise well, idk

this reminds me of an a single song review alum! (for you new ppl that's the artists we've reviewed before), cloakroom q! another really great. rather quirky irish post-punk band you should check out.
should you listen to more?
this was by far this artists most creative song, but that's not an insult. this is an artist that landed the basics of their sound before getting weird with it and it really pays off. as a consequence however, you may or may not find some of their tracks a little less fun and interesting, but they're still really good and you should check them out. button below pals xx
