😄 bandit country / everything stays review

coming with?

genre: rock /// shoegaze

hello hello! sorry last weeks issue went out on the wrong day, this silly billy hit the wrong button and didn’t realise until it was too late. ah well, lesson learned! i hope. anywho, got another heavy shoegaze track for you this week, we seem to have hit a rich vein of them lately and i am no complaining. as ever, don’t be afraid to submit your songs! do that here. in the meantime, let’s get cracking with everything stays by bandit country.

what i liked! :)

okay first off, im a big sucker fora good use of a ride bell. always have been always weill be, but that’s just the start of what i like about this song. we’ve got tons on display, first to the plate, the aforementioned drums. we’re big, we’re bold, we’re brash and we’re keeping this song running at a huge pace with some of the best sounding drums i’ve heard in a while. layer in on the top a set of guitars that make themselves felt, producing a massive soundscape that is beautifully mixed and layers such a perfectly blended high and low that everything feels cohesive and solid. i bet this song sounds utterly ginormous live and i’d really like to see that one day. the climax of the song is really great too, the backing vocals and loose noodly guitar solo really selling the outro to a huge track.

what i didn’t like :(

the vast majority of the vocal in this is really really good, and i don’t think this criticism is 100% fair as it’s not going for that, but nevertheless, the hook in this song didn’t quite land for me, i didn’t get it in my head and i think if this song had managed to land an earworm you’d be looking at a certified banger.

my drunk opinion :S

this song is very ‘naked on a hill in a storm’ energy, which i should know, im there now

for fans of

i think what justifies my ‘what i didn’t like’ comment is when you compare this to the likes of fontaines dc, who equally produce these massive tracks, but also have that ever so slightly catchy quality that make their songs stay in my head for going on 5 years now.

should you listen to more?

the other track thus far released by this artist is really good too, not quite as big arms in the air, a lot faster and more post punk, but i dig it! looking forward to more

more we’ve been listening to

groovy and fuzzy and really a lot of fun. kinda took me by surprise, particularly in the outro, but just banging honestly.

this feels strange to say, but this song feels like it’s artwork looks, which makes a certain kinda sense to me and me only i think, cool song tho!

one of those instrumental electronic rock songs that is really really good

congratulations to nathan, winner of march’s vinyl prize draw! share a single song review with your friends to enter april’s draw :)
