well gang we did it, we made it through most of december. and almost another year of programming on this here newsletter. now, i’m a bit of a traditionalist, so in the spirit of christmas cheer, here you go! 2025’s best of the year, brought to you by me. and, you. eagle eyed among you who submitted to the subscriber survey will have spotted i asked you for your song of the year, because this years best of the year playlist is led by you! i’ve, ofc, padded it out with my own impeccable taste, but the first half of the playlist or so is submitted by you lot. (with some light editorialising, sorry person who submitted the minecraft theme, it’s a banger, but unfortunately from 2011 [although don’t let me stop you])
it’s been a big year! a year of geese, a year of lorde returning, a year of deaftones licking peoples faces at extreme speed. and let me tell you, pulling together this playlist was an absolute treat to be involved in. i hope you enjoy listening to it as much as i did making it (and listening to it, of course).
but wait! i hear you say, i want to get my song of the year into the a single song review best of the year 2025 playlist of the year. then do it, punk. fill out the survey, and drop your song in. i’ll be adding them to the playlist all through december, providing they’re released this year and aren’t songs submitted for review on the newsletter generally.
