2026 baby let’s goooooooo we’ve got a live one and we’re ready to roll. i want you to shake off all those cobwebs, get up out your chair, do a slight jig, not a full one, it’s morning. but just a slight one, and tell me you’re ready. don’t write it down or anything, just say it to your phone like this, okay? just like that. well done, proud of you. don’t worry about all the people looking at you, they don’t matter. all that matters is you, me and this weeks song. meet child reebl soldier by chase usa, isa reyes and shaii david.

what i like

the sense of minimalism in this song while still packing an absolute punch is so much fun to listen to. percussion by way of hand claps and stomping feet is an inspired way to lay up a song and committing to it right throughout is bolddddd. the fact it works so well is testament not only to the execution and the mix, but also how these minimal elements work with everything else. the chanting backing vocals, the whistling and world noise all work to create a distinct and unique sound. when that drops out into the main verse complete with a full accompaniment of instrumentation it sounds absolutely killer. it onyl adds to the experience then where a lot of that drops out to give out the chorus, the addition of light elements like a harp and piano, not to mention the gorgeous extra vocalists, take this song to a new height kicking and screaming. altogether, this is a tour de force of songwriting, that lands in with a ton of energy and creativity that i lovedddd listening to.

what i don’t like

only thing i’m complaining about here is that this song is so short. it’s a blitz of what works, nothing to trim, just in and out without looking back. it’s all so well done but in particular when that chorus rips through it’s such a great contrast to the rest of the track that it hits extra hard. i kinda wanted more of that thanks to all that set up but alas, it was not to be.

my drunk opinion

stompin my feet and clapping along here on the bus and nobody can stop me

my drunk opinion

i’m so sorry but all i could think about was the cup song. do you remember the cup song? i remember the fucking cup song. it’s sad too because 1, the cup song is pretty good and 2 so is this but are they in the same league? obviously not. but can i think of anything else? also no.

this track is by an absolute litany of artists on the up and coming swing. each of them, amazing, all of them together? incredible. make a band please, but in the absense of a band, this track will do justttttt fine.
