quick one this week! the software i use to write these is playing up and i’m a sleepy baby, but that’s okay, i have you lot. and i have a great song for you this week. it's actually one of my favourite artists at the moment so please let me indulge myself a little, i think she’s going to blow up. i was right about chappell roan and reckon i’m right about this one. meet chloe slater, singer, rocker, extraordinaire. she’s got a other of great tracks, but this one’s a fave. take a listen to tiny screens on your tiny screen why don’t you

what i like

there’s so much commentary in this on all kinds of aspects to modern life. it’s something that sticks out not least through catchy and well delivered lyrics that land with asn much narrative as they do energy and rhythm. but moreover, what i like about them is it’s not like the likes of parklife where you have some kind of overwhelming wash of stuff. instead it manages to convey the overwhelming barrage of stuff these days, things that are happening and continuing to happen at on and around us. that delivery and production feels so real, and feels so human in a way some commentators miss by a country mile.

what i don’t like

something that this track does lack somewhat is a sense of oomph. there’s a lot going on, and some really heavy sections, but without moments of contrast to layer things together it does feel a bit one note at times. that said i bet this live would sound absolutely banging.

my drunk opinion

deleted instagram off my phone klast week and my phone usage dropped by 70 odd % so maybe she’s right y’know

my drunk opinion

tell you who this did get me thinking of, in terms of it made me want to get on a dancefloor and get a lil’ moody and sweaty. big o'l maggie rogers

i’m such a big fan of this artist. i really think they’re cooking. their latest tracks are similarly heavy hitters and i hope you like them too!
