howdy everyone and welcome back for another review. i’ve got terrible news for you all, i’m afraid this week we have an absolute banger, a boomer, a big big big ol tune. it’s goot a bit of a groove, it’s got a bit of dancy nonsense and it’s got a lot of heart. i, for one, am a big fan and i knoow you will be too. meet cid rim, and his song yes.

what i like

what i like

i’m such a big fan of chopped vocals. i loveeeee when an artist or a singer takes that perfoormance, lands it on the computer and gets a bit weird with it. this isn’t the craziest example i can tihnk of, but it is a personal fave. the use of those artificial perfoormances alongside even more strange and unnatural elements like the clapping audience or the somewhat fake sounding bongos go a long way towards making the core of this feel distinct and uniuqe while still being in the vein of the artists contemporaries. that’s what makes the rhythmn section with the tight snare focused durmming and the big big bass line grooving around echoed by the piano to give it a bit extra girth just work so well. that contrast is used throughout the song to make the song feel distinct and unique in a way that many artists try but few manage to land as well as this one does.

what i don't like

what i don’t like

i don’t really have a lot to complain about with this song, i felt like the main drop was a lil lackluster when there was scope for a big’un, and i thought the pitch chifting the main vocal down for a sec was a lil tacky but overall these are kinda nitpicks on a song i had a lot of fun with.

my drunk opinion

my drunk opinion

i want a remix with this and that old meme song with the cowboy int he air going yeaahhhh

my drunk opinion

ohhh okay so i went for a good hunt on this one, and found a really good compo. doesn’t make as much use of the same electronic activity as the last one, but it’s got that tight grooving rhythmn section and it’s got a lot of that dancey high energy vibe i really liked about this. plus a guitar solo. it’s i love hating you by frankjavcee

should you listen to more

had an actual panic there for a second because i thoguht i might’ve already reviewed this artist before. i’m a big fan of theirs, lotsssss of good music on the go and they’ve been cooking for a while too. their older stuff is just as good as this and honestly i think the direction they’ve gone in this is a decent step up.
