hello toa nother beautiful morning, i am afraid this weeks review is going to be really short because i am moving house so i’m going to blitz through this so i can get back to unpacking and sorting things out. i’ve got a cool fireplace now, and my new place is lovely and warm and really really cool and in a gfreat area and i’m really happy with it but! there is much to do, so please enjoy this really cool song i discovered while unpacking. it’s called fiona, by an artist called m field.

three cheers for syncopation! i think it was last week or the week before i was banging on about solid constant beats and how they’re sick. i still think that, but this song does so much w a lil off beat back and forth it’s really great. i love how this song plays with those elements too, giving plenty of enjoyable bits and bobs. the, theramin? or synth? or, whatever it is towards the start, the blucky lil riff, the shakers, it’s all so cute and fun. it also does a great job of building up a fair bit of energy by continually adding a bit extra into the mix, and then pulling back. it’s a really great execution of that kind of approach, pushing the envelope out a lil bit more each time. i think that’s a super neat songwriting device and more people should use it.

i think this piece was missing a bit of chunky low end to make it really properly groove. a nice noodly and funky bass line underneath all that finger plucked goodness would’ve been sweet.

i reckon i could play this song on the bongos if i wanted to

i’m going to be honest when i first heard this my ears perked up massively because i thoguht it was bill wurtz but as far as i can tell, it isn’t. it does however sound really good like bill does, so that’s a win all around i think.

okay i’ve gotten to the end of this review and realised i mayyyyy have reccomended this artist before in the other things i’m listening to section, which if anyone finds it, woops, sorry. they are really cool tho, listen to the song andrew if you haven’t already on account of me or your own bat.

more i’ve been listening to

icarus / low girl this is a pretty intense but really cool song, and i think that’s a good reason to listen to it frankly, sometimes you need to get a bit weird with it.

wilt / moved along won’t lie, heard this and thought oh man, top tier song for a review, but unfortunately they have way too many listeners. there’s a really good reason for that though, they’re really good.
