😀 mid-century modern - green review

you know when a song is great for sitting in a big chair?

ever since we opened up and started pushing artists to submit their songs to us, we've been having such a good time checking out great stuff you just wouldn't find anywhere else. see, lil rant here, but the music industry and publication complex is really good for certain kinds of things, but there is so so so so much more to what people are capable of when handed some instruments and a daw. this weeks track is a great example. is it commercial? hell no, are you gonna get labels putting shit tons of money behind it to make it the next big thing? defo not, but did i have the best time listening to it this evening? you bet. this is mid-century modern, and their song green.click the picture up above to give it a listen!

what i liked! :)

first off, the minimalist approach combined with either intentional or unintentional warbling of the main melody through dual speakers? oh man. if you let yourself just listen to this keenly on a dual set up you can properly feel the strings of the artists guitar wave. also the super tidy little delay going on the main guitar solo is such a nice touch. delay is like bay leaves, nobodies entirely sure what it does, but if you don't add it you'll probably notice.

what i didn’t like :(

my only complaint is that this song isn't 45 minutes long

my drunk opinion :S

my only complaint is that this song isn't 450 minutes long

for fans of

this is giving massive unknown mortal orchestra, especially his weirder instrumentals.

should you listen to more?

this artist is weird! and really cool. this is definitely something a bit more in a very different direction, but the dancey, house stuff and lo fi stuff on their spotify you'll find, is really good. honestly? whatever this artist gets up to in the future sign me tf up.

more we’ve been listening to

spooky and spacey and with some really cool vocal work, like the kind of thing you hear in a movie when a character goes into space

just astonishingly good riff work plus a really thick irish accent

why is this so catchy???

that’s all from us this week! catch you in the next one xo
