did you miss us?
it's good to be back! you may have noticed a temporary drop in service these past few weeks, between the bank holidays and some technical issues it's been tricky. but no longer, we're back, baby! and here we are with another banging tune for your inbox or ears or whatever you do with these. we've got an interesting tune for you this week, introducing don't care by mistrusted, a post punk tune with attitude and a, uhm, theramin?
click the picture up above to give it a listen!
what i liked! :)
this song s areal grower, first few listens i wasn't sold but there are some great catchy elements that kept me coming back. toss in with that plenty of little details like the clicky percussive instruments, hey hey hey's, na na nas, kazzoo-esque vocal treatment, guitar solo and theramin? i tihnk? is it a theramin? can anyone confirm? do we know for sure? anyway, when all the elements on display come together in those last few seconds it really works. a great case of a song working with more is more and that's awesome.
what i didn’t like :(
it's hard not to feel like the earlier moments in this song, rather than contrasting with the rest and displaying some quieter moments instead just sound... lacking? like it's not quite all there, which does make the ending sound great but pity it feels at the expense of the rest of the song.
my drunk opinion :S
if it's not a theramin you know what, i don't know what it is. like i get it, it's probably a midi controlled vst or whatever but it's certainly a midi controlled vst that sounds like a theramin and just like, what a ballsy move. what does our song need, ah yes, a theramin. it's the 1812 overture all over again.
for fans of
y'know, this reminds me a fair bit of yard act, who are really cool.
should you listen to more?
this artist is one that needs to keep honing their craft. some of their earlier songs have moments of really great songwriting and musicianship, and moments of kinda bad songwriting that need sanded out. that said, this song is their latest, and best imo, so keep that up!
and keep the theramin!
more we’ve been listening to
glitchy, funky and really dense with extremely expressive vocal work, more of this pls
one of those songs that introduces musical elements within the story of it's lyrics and it's awesome
catchy and incredibly moody, plus it's got groove? oh it's got groove alright
