😀 needle - manual breathing review

does this hit the mark?

back on time with this weeks review! how about that! we've got a real interesting track for you here. probably gonna be one that lots of people might not like, but the people who give it a shot are gonna be all over it. this is manual breathing, a lo-fi shoegaze indie song with some of the most interesting mixing i've ever heard, plus some incredible rhythmn section action in the mix.

click the picture up above to give it a listen!

what i liked! :)

there are moments where this song absolutely shines. like really, when the groovy beat comes in under the massive wash of the cymbals and the syncopated guitar riff plays off it? inspired. and the washy vocal work is soooo catchy, i've got it stuck in my head something serious. plus as much as im going to talk about this later, i love the lo-fi rough and ready nature fo this track. the little details like hearing the slightly off beat finale lose itself in it's own manic energy or the still on amp get cut right at the end. it's little things like that that really make a song feel real, and i wish more artists would use them.

what i didn’t like :(

the mix on this song is all over the show. at times, it's perfect, absolutely perfect, everytihngs singing from the same sheet, gelling together well and producing a sound that's both distinctive and interesting. at other times tho? instruments come careening in out of nowhere, stealing the spotlight and making a mess. that can be fine sometimes, but at times in this song it just gets out of control.

my drunk opinion :S

boom bap badoom bap badoom bap badoom bap badoom bap

for fans of

i had a song that this sounds just like annddd i've lost it in the depths of my spotify somewhere, sorry all! here's a cool song that it sounds a bit different to (but not that much now that i tihnk about it) corners pressed by letting up despite great faults

should you listen to more?

i'm not kidding when i say if this band managed to keep the scrappy energy they have, but get a great producer on board who could whip them into more of a solid shape, they'd be great. will they do that? no idea! i really hope they do tho.

more we’ve been listening to

i am simple person, i hear chopped up vocals as an instrument, i enjoy chopped up vocals as an instrument.

this song just turns on it's head about half way and goes from gorgeous and melancholic to gorgeous and boppin.

imagine bill wurtz made a new band. maybe this is him? idk, not a clue, loving it anyway tho. (it isn't him)

that’s all from us this week! catch you in the next one xo
