look, just go with me on this one ok. this is one of my favourite songs from this year and im not even kidding. no, i couldn't get it into the song name box and no i didn't really try because, well, you saw it in the subject line, but this song man. it's fucking lush and i think it's great. i'll be real with you, it's not a floor filler, but i listen to a lot of music and rarely has a song been able to pull me out of a level 3 stress spiral and get me to go hang on a second, what. is this. and this song fucking nailed it. i don't believe in jesus but three grams of these mushrooms is making me feel some kinda way is this weeks song, by pigbaby.

what i liked! :)

right the intro is a bit one-of-those-dark-rooms-in-an-art-gallery-where-you-sit-on-a-sofa, but when the strings come in? oh man. it's distant and scratchy and has just a tiny bit of embellishment on the melody. it's a beautiful little piece with faint celtic references but a largely stilted performance that feels real and personal. towards the end of the piece there are these really gentle little responses to the main melody that whisp in the ether above and around the like dust caught in a light. that is only elevated by the strange, fainlty electronic but intensely immersive backing lays up the strings to do their thing in an environment that feels both homely and otherworldly.
