well everyone, it’s a big scary world out there. so let’s keep each other safe, look out for each other, unionise, organise and don’t be afraid to talk to your neighbours. dunno about you but i’ve been feeling the heat lately so i think it’s a good time to have a second to focus on something else. thankfully we have some great fucking music locked and ready for you all, so without further ado, let’s get into it. meet shebad, a jazzy outfit with tons of influences and ideas going on. they have a riot of a track here, including a feature from anomalie. it slaps, i love it and you will too.

what i like

before we get to the real meat and potatoes of this track, i just want to take a moment and just say. the groove. the groove. the groove. man, it is razer sharp, thick as mud and has this song wriggling and writhing like a big ol worm in mud. it does that amazing thing of having one real riff to play and enjoy, that only gets variations sparingly, but it doesn’t need them. because man, sometimes you do get it in one. the shuffle drum kit making the whole song feel tense and energetic contrasted against the dense piano work and the glorious strings.

it’s a refined palatte, but man, is it a delivious one. these elements only serve to work together and bulk up the whole track when the vocals come in. initially, we are met with the luxurious and powerful main vocalist. the tone and the virtuoisity on display are really something and the performance really serves to tie together all of the disparate threads that make this song what it is. without these vocals, this song wouldn’t land. it’s so brave and pwoerful then when they give way to this tracks feature. a tour de force from an incredible rapper. one who leans into and makes work the grooves and world building of the track to slam home a performance for the ages.

man, as if that wasn’t enough, the track is like what about some more for you. and bam, solo after solo after solo. sticking around just long enough to make their presence felt and deliver an emotional high that makes the song end on a big note.

what i don’t like

honestly i’m coming up dry on this one. not a thing about this track had me questioning it, it’s aboslutely stunning.

my drunk opinion

weird how that groove is like, 45 minutes long. how does it do that
