rounding out our car theme here with a feel good song for the ages

good morning gang and welcome back to another issue! this week, we’ve got something equal parts weird and fuuzy and also extremely extremely catchy. so please, let hair down, assume position and let’s get ready to roll down this hill. meet sleepazoid, and their grungy little number alice, this weeks song!

this chorus is so cool. it’s such a creatively written and groovy number with a real sense of drama and character. it’s also really nice to hear something that is both super duper catchy but also really annunciated. like really going out of their way to get every syllable illustrated and presented as something in and of itself. it’s really neat. i think that’s what it is about this song that has me wanting to learn the lyrics here, like i want to follow every single sound of this song vocally like a stim. not to be outdone of course, the rest of the song is absolutely rocking. big grooves, and really powerful and punishing drums and rhthymn section does the heavy lifting here. the lead guitar hanging around to add a bit of weird to it all with some pizazz here and there.

i think this song actually needs to be a bit more weird. the verses for example have some really fun affected whispered vocals, which are really cool, but the main vocal is delivered straight. this isn’t a bad thing per say, but again that chorus is so powerful, that if the time away from it could be more of a contrast it would set it up a lot better i think.

don’t like hearing this song recorded, need to scream it in a room of strangers.

if you’re a fan of sorry, you will like this band. if you’re not a fan of sorry then you should say, say it with me, sorry, to me and your loved ones for letting them down. now go listen to sorry.

the thing about naming your band freakazoid is you really have to follow that up. like you really can’t let that just be hanging out as a name. it needs to have the whole package or it’s a total waste. well, i am very pleased to report this is one that lands with both feet the mantle of a name like freakazoid. they really really rule.
