😀 theo fitzgibbon - waterfall review

wanna get wet and wild?

you know it's really weird that we've crossed 1000 subscribers, because we still just keep doing what we're doing and people keep coming in. that's bizarre. anyway, welcome everyone, let's get to it! we've got a real banger this week. it's kinda poppy and indie in that kinda church worship music way? but it's not worship music by any stretch, just feels absolutely massive and sing-a-long-y. this week, we're listening to waterfall by theo fitzgibbon!

click the picture up above to give it a listen!

what i liked! :)

christ alive the pipes on this lad. this is someone who is just absolutely belting and able to do it with the kinda control and precision that makes that kind of vocal really land. i bet this person sounds absolutely perfect live. on top of that, the rhythmic structure of this song really lends itself to that massive sound. those forceful guitar chords and super simple drums just land on top of each other to give this a massive pounding feel to it. it's the kind of song you hear at a gig and you are not tapping your foot no sirree, you are stomping. stomping i say! it's a really well constructed track that sets out to do exactly what it intended, and just straight up did it.

what i didn’t like :(

you know when you listen to something, and you really want it to have woah-ohs, and you think it's going to, but it just doesn't? i want this to have woah-ohs. i love a good woah-oh, they're so cheesy but every time im sitting there to myself on the bus going woah-oh. and i mean gang woah-ohs, i know this bridge has the singer doing it, but it's not a one person thing, it's a group thing.

my drunk opinion :S

woah-ohhhhhhhh

woah-ohhhhhhhuuuuhhhooohhh

woah-ohhhhhhhhhhhh

woah-ohhhhuuuhhhoooohhhhhhh

yeah

for fans of

i mean, there's some obvous parallels, this is a well trodden genre it has to be said. having said that tho, i'm going to go with hozier, because that makes me listen to hozier and i really like hozier. obvious as it is, i'm smiling so what are you gonna do.

should you listen to more?

would you believe it, this is a first track. goddamn. and what a first track it is. time to trot out the old a single song review phrase: put a pin in this one, and check back in a couple months. if they've got the chops to be dropping tracks like this as a debut then there's tons of room for improvement that we're gonna see over the next wee while.

more we’ve been listening to

gentle vocal? gentle beat? gentle bass? it's gentle era here gang, and we're loving it.

look, i know exactly what i mean by this and i hope you do too: this sounds like the soundtrack to a running chas esequence from a movie from the late 80s

real smoking a cigarette energy here

that’s all from us this week! catch you in the next one xo
