alright alright that’s enough of the ol playlistember for another year. hope you enjoyed but now it’s back to usual! yes, one song, that’s all we can digest over here, typically. but the journey to a playlist is made up of many songs, and many songs are made up of many moments! music is painting time with sound, and in this song, we paint the sound of me going holy shit as i listen to this and my jaw drops to the floor. this song, ladies, gents, theybies, others and gang. is a holy shitter. it’s so good, and has a moment within it that goes so so hard i had to let everyone on the bus know. and now i have to let you all know. so here y’are.

what i like

two things i love about this are the massive noodley riff in the opening third, and how it utterly refuses to reuse it. i think it’s really rad to have a statement piece in your song, a big moment, a coup de grace, but i also really rate doing that and then refusing to elaborate further. simply going, yes, that’s there, that’s there what of it, we’re not talking about that now are we. no we’re not we’re moving on. i tihnk it works becuase it really excudes confidence to do something like that. but i wanted to get that out of the way more because of what else i want to talk about, namely how the rest of this song is sooo good. let’s look at the feature first off, the vocalist who appears on this does such a killer job of getting into the sound of this artist and working with it. you could be mistaken for not thinking that there is a feature here at all this is just what this band sounds like because the connection and cohesiveness is so seamless. working that into something that oozes and bloops electronics and intricate grooves is even more impressive because the complexity has the air of being impenetrable but the vocal performance does so much to lead you in and make you feel comfortable on top of all of the brambles.

what i don't like

what i don’t like

it does really feel like that riff should come back again for another hit. ahh well, i think where this song suffers is from lacking a really clear easy hook to latch on. it has such creativity in the groove and the melody but nothing to actually turn that into something that stays except for the riff and that feels like a bit of a shame honestly.

my drunk opinion

my drunk opinion

it’s actually prime air guitar territory if yuo give it a go, like just complicated enough and just easy enough and just groovy enough

for fans of

my drunk opinion

this is a bit of a rogue one, but i stand by it, this song really reminds me of bring me back my dog by lorelei which is one of my favourite tracks, but it does a lot of stuff similarly enough i think it works. you’ve got tons of grooving beats, some interesting textures and riffs all making a kinda aggressive soundscape forming the backdrop to a really even keeled vocal track that is equal parts catchy and accessible.

should you listen to more

i’ve been listening to a fair bit of the main artist here and there’s some really cool groovy stuff going on lemme tell you. the tones and sounds in this song carry all the way through in a way that feels more cohesive and interesting than some artists you might hear from elsewhere. genuinely great stuff from bobbing there, god bless.
