okay everyone, great news. this weeks song is what it is allllll about. by that, i of course mean, finding the little gems in the rough. now, not to talk down on anyones creative endeavours, not really about that here. but it is so refreshing in this business to come across something truly great out of nowhere. and that is e x a c t l y what we have this week. a song with, 2? listens? and i’m 1 of them? we could send this song to the stratosphere from this one newsletter i think. and my word, should we. we should, is what i’m saying because god damn we should. this song rules. you’ll see why in just a second, but i really, really encourage you to give it a listen. it genuinely sent the hairs on the back of my neck for a conversation with the boss.

what i like

something i really love about this song is it’s worldbuilding. the ability to hold a whole world in the tones of the guitar being so subtle in this, is amazing. from the very first note, you are utterly transported to somewhere else. the amount of reverb, the strumming pattern, the pacing, it’s all so masterfully done. i mean seriously put some cans on and lower yourself gently into this one, it’s amazing. and that ability to develop and move the song into moments of real energy and excitement on a single note like the lead in to the pre-chorus, are so amazingly handled. it’s honestly kind of insane how well that playing is used to convey so much feeling and emotion.

this is only heightened with the vocals, which are absolutely stunning. before we get to that though, i do just want to give a little nod to this track using the perfect amount of backing tracks to convey a bit of drama and no more. it takes real restraint to use that kind of tool gently and it works so so well here. now let’s talk singing. because i love it. this artists voice is gorgeous, it’s just a bit above a whisper at times, others, sounds like it’s up on a soapbox. it’s really great and had me well and truly in my feels.

what i don’t like

i’m honestly sort of astounded by how little traction a song this good has. i want that to change, hence, review. there is something else about it that i do have to criticise it for a little bit, and that’s the imagery. namely, there isn’t any. i don’t know who this artist is, and i don’t know what they’re about but god i want to know more. now, i’m not above a bit of tension, i’m not above a hidden character or taking a step back from the limelight, in fact i’m all for it. but you need to lay the ground work before that kind of tension starts to apply. you don’t get a chekovs gun by turning up to the function with a gloc. you just come across as unhinged. if you set it up beforehand? you may get a different reaction. or the same one, on account of the gun. anyway. look, forget about the gun okay. no, in fact, get rid of the gun, where did you get that thing anyway? i don’t want that in my house what if it goes off! where was i. ah yes, tension, i’m all about it, but you need to give us a lil something to latch on to here, this artist has nothing, except a killer track, and i want the rest pretty please with a bow on top.

i hear you oh great leader, i hear you, and i obey the sounds of the spirits

my drunk opinion

you know who this reminds me offfffffff. big bad ben howard. an artist who i haven’t listened to in years, but is one of the few artists who can do what this artist does. get a whole worls stopped and turned on a single note. what a singer man.

i wish i could say you’re finding an artist with a huge back catalogue and a ton of tracks. but that’s not the case! we have, but a tiny handful of songs. and those other ones, they are a little less polished than this, but still pretty good. i hope this is the start of something, because this is a track and an artist that has that juice. i want them to go somewhere with it.

Most Men Notice Aging All at Once

Men's skin is 25% thicker than women's. That sounds like an advantage. It isn't. Thicker skin delays the visible signs of aging — until collagen drops. And when it drops, it drops hard: heavier eye bags, deeper wrinkles, dark spots, loss of firmness. All at once. Most men were never taught to get ahead of it. That's where Particle Face Cream comes in. A 6-in-1 formula engineered specifically for men's skin — reduces eye bags, dark spots, and wrinkles, restores firmness, hydrates deeply, revives dull tone. Two minutes a day. No complicated routine. Over 1,000,000 men already use it. Try it risk-free with a 30-day money-back guarantee. 20% off with code BH20.
