another week, another lovely little dive into the depths of the database, and boy do i have a find for you. a groovy, weird and angry little offering from a tiny band doing massive things. it’s a bit heavy, it’s a bit dancy, you can imagine yourself wearing turn ups and docs and getting into it. i can’t, imagine that is, because i’ve been getting into it for real all evening. meet bees & sawdust (yet another absolutely killer name) doing it big style with their track the televangelist shuffle.

i always have a lot of time for a vocalist that can barely keep it together. i can’t remember if it’s the simpsons or not but i swear down there’s an episode of something where the main character becomes a singer and he only sounds good when he really needs to pee. this artist is exactly like that, and i love it. i feel like they’re bursting at the seems and ready to blow and every second of it is a treat to behold. the moments where they throw a bit of vibrato or a yell or a scream, it all works extremely well. it works even better thanks to the fact that the music this singer is battling with psychically and also physically, is absolutely banging. the tight bouncey groove sets the tone from the off and doesn’t let up not for one second. it’s messy and sloppy but only enough to make you feel like it’s going to explode. tonally this is a song that really knows what it’s doing too, with a ton of energy and excitement expressed by way of brash and abrasive tones and a drum tone that acts as sandpaper to the soul.

i actually have nothing to say in this section i’m really sorry. not to gas the whole thing up too much or whatever, but this song rocks my socks and i love it dearly. 2 minutes and 48 seconds later, here we are, upside down, socks well and truly lost on the other side of the room and y’know what? that’s beautiful

aww man what a cool band, i’m kind of annoyed they’re not bigger yet but i can already tell they’re going to be. this song rocks, but so does the rest of their back cat. it’s a lot more rocky indie fare, but with some really different approaches to their roster that keep things feeling fresh and looking great. shout out bees & sawdust thanks for submitting your track.
