one of those weird and creepy tracks that still pounds it’s way into being an absolute bop

okay, back to normal let’s get to it, got a banger for you all this week! like always, y’know, but especially so for this week because we have a really cool lil instrumental this week. awash in riffs, replete with meledoy and really, just sounding so so juicy and toneful and bright. meet regressor and jakub zetecki with their real recent lil number, honey bomb.
the melody that powers this track is so so good man. it’s a start to finish masterclass in how to construct interesting and exciting melodies. it’s really cool too how the use of extra backing instruments like the synths and washy vocal elements really support the main delivery of the guiter. the opening whoosh providing a safe landing for the first strums of guitar to feel gentle and wanted. the echoing of the arpeggiated guitar with vocals, the intro of a hi hat and ride bell to accent changes in timbre and tone. it’s all done to really accent and support the really cool and groovy melody. it means that when those elements all come together in the middle section you have a super simply laid up but achingly brilliant moment of energy that feels earned and deserved despite the fact the song only has like a minute of runtime under it’s belt. that level of story telling and production is really quite something. the middle 8 where a lot of the development goes on does a great job of breaking the song up and developing some tension with some solos and excitement, but when they all come back together for that final few bars? man, it feels exciting. what a moment, what a song.
i guess one issue i had with this is that the melodies didn’t feel like they explored any kind of development worth shouting about. the middle 8, despite it’s effectiveness, doesn’t really feel integral to the melody, meaning the return to form feels great, but it misses that something something. if the song had done something using that main melody line to contrast to that closing moment it would’ve felt that bit more cohesive and earned.
do you guys know what i mean when i say open world ridge racer music
ahh man i used to listen to so much music like this. one of my all time fave bands is and so i watch you from afar, who is not who this reminds me of, but i used to just be totally immersed in this kind of music all the time, it’s why i can travel forwards and backwards in time at will, i simply transcended actually. but the song this track reminded me of the most, is ohmygodiloveyoupleasedon’tleaveme by clever girl, which does a lot of the same stuff, but also with a sax, which is pretty rad if you ask me and you did.
i’m sure you’ll be pleased as punch to hear that there is a ton more music from this artist, and it all slaps. it’s all banging and it’s all really really really good. god bless dude with a cool guitar doing cool guitar music, you' rule.
