😀 robocobra quartet - wellness review
wanna go inside a saxamaphone?
anecdote time. i once tried to make a spreadsheet to track how my days were going in the depths of my dissertation crisis. it lasted 3 weeks and all i wanted to do was be able to make some cool graphics at the end of a year, but i gave up. anyway, i was so out of my mind at the time that i completely forgot about that until i heard this song! fun! meet robocobra quartet, and their wellness, this weeks track!
click the picture up above to give it a listen!
what i liked! :)
the lyrics in this are brutal. like, there's no two ways about it this is a track about and by someone who's been there. the fact they can just keep repping off more and more insane things that are all... real? at least, they seem real. also this bands use of tone is really really impressive. the bass tones for example are justtttt right for this song, crunchy and aggressive enough to give the song bite but not enough to chew away at the sax that gives it all that space and feeling.
what i didn’t like :(
i think i don't like how much this song left me wanting more. like i kinda wanted a big fuzzy outro of some kind where there's some catharsis but i guess we can't have everything can we
my drunk opinion :S
sorry im waiting on this activated charcoal hitting i'll have a hot take in 3 - 5 business days
for fans of
this song has the same hypnotic qualities that fugazi have and that makes me want to listen to them a lot and a lot and a lot but im not gonna turn down an opportunity to mention moon hooch because i heard a saxophone now am i.
should you listen to more?
im a big fan of these dudes, i saw them live once a few years ago and i felt very not cool enough yet but i you listen to them on spotify then you can enjoy them while not needing to feel cooler
more we’ve been listening to
the off beat piano, the groovy rhythmn, the dreamy vocals, this song has no right having this much good stuff
mixing swirly and chirpy synths with melancholic wailing is a killer combo almost every time

late to the party but honestly glad to be here.
