i dunno about you guys, but lately my favourite place to find new music? is on that submit a song form where you all send your tracks in because man. there are some bangers in there. it’s honestly a real neat little corner of the musical universe where banger after banger is lurking around every corner. that sounds threatening, but i don’t mean it to be? like, if it’s in a good way, it’s like a rounded corner. anyway. got another banger for you, one for the metal heads among us, this is a mathy and dramatic little number from fellow appreciators of the great state of massacheusitts - trophy husband ma with their track, gonna lighter! which i’ve been thinking about. what does that mean? does it mean you’re going to light er on fire? you’re going lighter? you’re lighter? lots to ponder, lots to consider. and consider it we shall, so as always…

i’ve been thinking a lot about pizazz lately. by which i mean, what is it to give someone the ol razzle dazzle. it’s a kind of emotional thing where someone is taking a step forward and drawing all attention to themselves and going, look at me, this is about me, i am what’s up. it’s a funny thing too because it’s not even physical, it’s emotional and it can be replicated in any kind of medium or piece of art, and you can find a top tier example in this track. just take a listen to the main guitar riff on this song at 2:42. it’s such a howler, just going up and saying right everyone, all eyes on me. and it’s doing that while being totally obfuscated through a sound that makes it totally illegible and off kilter, but melodically it’s set up so well you can’t help but put your best stank face on and start singing along. that’s a quality that’s present in lots of other detail in this song, from the groovy bass to the synchopated drumming. even the massive flute-esque noise that comes in right at the end. this is a song being held together with string and prayer as it bursts from the seems with melody and energy and hustle.

i loved the weird vocal thing at the start of this, it was so cool and it only appears once in the song and then that’s it! it was coolllllll give me more stuff like that. i love a song that has a weird little thing going on. more weird little things in them.

i caught myself in the mirror giving the stank face as i bopped to this on the first listen. that, my friends, is how you know you’ve found a live one. a real hoenst to god live one to vibe with.

i shopped around a bit on this one honestly, and the only band that really hit the same vein for me was pup, which is a weird one because this band is super instrumental and a lot more metal where they’re a bit more pop punk and vocal led, but seriously listen to the two. there’s some real pedigree there and i’m not afraid to point it out.

goddamn this artist is good. the album this track is from is banger after banger full and they’ve got sweet fa for listeners. i think that’s a shame honestly, and i’m here to do something about it because they rule! listen to this band, you hear me? i’m talking to you, look me in the eyes, pay attention. this band are really really really good.
